About Our School
Located on a quiet, 5-acre
campus just north of
Chiefland, NCMS is a free
public school that is privately
operated in order to provide
small classes and innovative
programs in the arts,
sciences, and technology.
We offer a caring,
individualized approach to
education with the most up-
to-date curriculum and
programs to help our
students prepare for the
challenges of high school
and beyond.
Developmental Responsiveness
We believe that an effective middle school environment is sensitive
to the unique developmental challenges of early adolescence. Our
Program will focus on meeting the following seven needs of middle
school students:
1.
Positive social interaction with adults and peers.
2.
Structure and clear limits
3.
Physical activity
4.
Creative expression
5.
A sense of competence and achievement
6.
Meaningful participation in families and school
7.
Opportunities for self-definition within a supportive community
Academic Excellence
We believe that all students should be taught to use their minds well
and to achieve high academic standards. Our school provides an
innovative educational program that stimulates their interest,
channels their energies, and develops their abilities.
Social Equity
We strive to be socially equitable, democratic, and fair. Our goal is
to provide every student with opportunities for success and personal
growth through a focus on individual needs within a supportive
school environment.
